A Note on Our History
The Office of Harsh Singh traces its roots to a family association with the law in Bihar that began in 1877. That year, late Shaligram Singh, of the Kulharia family of Bhojpur, began practising at the Calcutta High Court, where he continued until 1905. In 1885, together with his brother, he founded Bihar National College (B.N. College), Patna, and he was twice elected to the Bengal Legislative Council.
Late Justice K.B.N. Singh later served as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court and of the Madras High Court, and twice as Acting Governor of Bihar (1978–1979).
His son, Justice Samarendra Pratap Singh, enrolled as an Advocate in 1980 and was designated a Senior Advocate in 2004. He served as a Judge of the Patna High Court from 2006 to 2017, retiring as the senior-most Judge, and was Executive Chairman of the Bihar Judicial Academy and of the Bihar State Legal Services Authority. He was appointed President of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Bihar, in 2019. His brother, Shri Jitendra Singh, is a Senior Advocate practising at the Patna High Court.
Harsh Singh, son of Justice Samarendra Pratap Singh, enrolled with the Bihar State Bar Council in 2010 and practises at the Patna High Court.
